What you can expect

This exhilarating combo extends out from our Te Rā Guided Experience by offering a leading cultural performance in our beautifully carved meeting house, Te Aronui a Rua. It will include a Pōhiri (Traditional Māori Welcome), Waiata (Song), Mōteatea (traditional chant), Poi and Haka.

Enter the geothermal valley on our waka (people moving vehicle) and discover one of New Zealand’s most magnificent geothermal wonderlands – featuring dramatic geysers, bubbling mud, and beautiful native bush.

Throughout this guided experience & cultural performance, look out for popular highlights in the Te Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley. You will see the mighty Pohutu Geyser, the largest geyser in the southern hemisphere, which erupts approximately 20 times a day. Te Puia is also home to stunning cobalt blue lakes, bubbling mud pools and steaming hot springs. At the end of the tour, you will have the chance to experience not just the haka, but several cultural performances: the pohiri (traditional welcome), waiata (song), moteatea (traditional chant), poi dancing and the haka.

Know for its geysers, there is a Maori culture centre as well with three handicraft schools and a traditional show.

It’s very interesting to learn about handcrafts and Māori culture. The geysers and mud pools are impressive. I had a great time to walk as well in the park. But to be fair, the price is a bit high if there isn’t any percentage going to support the schools.

The guided tour was nice big mud pool and huge geysers that just go one and on for several minutes. The people from the carving school was so nice and friendly.

The Maori Cultural Presentation was incredible, such a unique experience for your bucket list. Same to the buffet menu at the restaurant, great price for an all inclusive and so much variety of meats, salads, soup and desserts. It was mostly Maori food and some Asian too, I couldn't even try everything.

A must if you are in Rotorua

A must if you are in Rotorua. The Maori cultural experience was amazing and the geysers were awe inspiring. We all see a kiwi and mud pools. Four things ticked off our todo list in one location. We could have spent more time there, we allocated half a day but you could easily spend a whole day at Te Puia and Thermal Reserve Rotorua.
